Regional Special Schools Boccia & Kurling Festival/ Boccia Leaders Coaching Course
The second opportunity involved 7 students travelling to the Alan Higgs Sports Centre in Coventry, to act as sports leaders or officals for a regional special schools Boccia and New Age Kurling tournement. The students were required to: organise and arrange fixtures, umpire matches, collect scores and rely to tournement organsier, encourage and motivate participants and hand out medals and certificates in the presentation. A huge congratulations goes to all the students involved as they handled a very daunty task very well and made huge personal strides in their personal development. Students involved were: Jacob Convey, Nico Gouviea, Christopher Badger, Craig Mawby, Brendan Chivasa, Lawerence Schofield and Lisa Strange. As part of the leadership academy at the college the students who were involved in this event were able to gain a formal qualifaction prior to the event. They attended a Boccia Leaders award here at the college which was led by Sue Todd from Cerebral Palsy Sport. They were accompanied by students from variety of special schools across the region.
